The dream of any good value investor is to find a fundamentally valuable asset that is universally ignored and maligned such that market sentiment artificially lowers its price below its value. With BSV, we believe we have found one, with the added benefit of unusually asymmetrical upside.

While it’s fun to mock fallen gatekeepers like the NYT or the Harvard economics department from the first level of our fractal contrarian image, it’s important to remember that “experts” do exist for a reason.

If we accept the difficulties facing BTC and the community’s failure to acknowledge and address them, the next question becomes: which alternative blockchains are positioned to outlast, and eventually overtake, BTC? While bitcoin as BTC might be irreparably flawed, we are in the fortunate position of being able to capitalize off of its open source nature.

The primary sides of the scaling debate are segregated into two camps: big blockers and small blockers. Their disagreements are many, but for the sake of this argument we can boil them down into three questions:

  1. What does it mean to “use” bitcoin?

  2. How do we get more people to use bitcoin?

  3. What are the implicit trade offs being made to facilitate this?

Much has been made about the most recent major fork of the bitcoin blockchain: Bitcoin Satoshi’s vision (BSV). From crypto celebrity billionaire lawfare to conspiracy mass exchange delistings to high profile social media campaigns of threats and retaliation, the crypto space has been unavoidably abuzz with BSV and its most prominent supporter Craig Wright. But this, as with much of the “news” in the world of crypto, is almost entirely noise.

More on Token Velocity

Tokens can be an excellent investment vehicle and can give projects that utilize them well a competitive advantage. However, many tokens were conceived as a way to raise funds without dealing with securities laws rather than as an essential component of the business that naturally lent itself as an investment. To discern between viable and nonviable investment opportunities it is important to first understand token velocity.

A tokenomic analysis of IOTA, a cryptocurrency utilizing Directed Acyclic Graph technology for the underlying infrastructure of the network. Are the incentive structures within the IOTA network sufficiently aligned for healthy network growth?

As the initial generations of blockchain mature, the question “What is tokenomics?” is likely to have a simpler answer; the difference between successful and unsuccessful projects. As the industry continues to develop its revolutionary technologies, tokenomic innovation will remain an essential component of creating networks that generate economic value in unprecedented manner and quantity.

Why We Partnered with MetaCert Protocol on Tokenomics

10/4/2018

world-wide-web-25-years-super.jpg

The Ezra New Economy Fund is excited to announce our partnership with MetaCert in a special advisory role on tokenomic design and development for the forthcoming MetaCert Protocol.

As an early investor in the MetaCert Protocol, Ezra has been excited about the project’s potential since first learning of its mission. Already a renowned web 2.0 company widely used within the crypto community, MetaCert is transitioning towards a decentralized network architecture built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. Transitioning to blockchain will enable MetaCert’s network of users and contributors to more successfully secure the internet while retaining surplus value within the network. MetaCert’s decision to utilize a decentralized network architecture is a quintessential use case of blockchain technology that will be ready to scale. No indefinite “waiting until later” to take advantage of the benefits of decentralization. This all culminates in the potential that has made Ezra enthusiastic about the protocol as both users and investors.

Now, in our capacity as tokenomic advisors, Ezra is thrilled to be playing a key role in stewarding the protocol towards successful tokenomic design and implementation. Understanding and evaluating the complex, interconnected nature of token economies has been a primary focus of Ezra’s due diligence process in our role as investors. Recently, we have begun publicly thinking about this topic on our podcast, The Tokenomics Podcastand are now eager to take the next step and apply this knowledge towards real-world applications in conjunction with the MetaCert team.

Stay tuned for future posts outlining the development of this partnership as well as the announcement of future tokenomic advising partnerships that are in the works. For all future updates, click the link below and follow us on Medium.com.
